Augsburg offers various levels of care including skilled nursing, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, and respite care. Licensed registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, as well as other nursing personnel, are on duty 24 hours a day to ensure residents receive the highest quality care. All one hundred twenty-three rooms are Medicare/Medicaid certified for skilled nursing care.
Augsburg has an attending physician on-site multiple days each week and on-call when not in the facility. Augsburg Lutheran Home of Maryland, Inc. is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and certified to accept Medicare/Medicaid.
The Health Center is designed in a progressive neighborhood model. Each of the six neighborhoods are equipped with a state-of-the-art kitchen, living room with fireplace, cheerful sunroom, inviting dining area, and spacious resident rooms. Each floor is also equipped with a high-tech spa that features a TV and an easy-access whirlpool tub. Residents are encouraged to bring personal items such as pictures to make their stay feel more like home.
Long-Term Nursing Care is available for those who require assistance with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and/or feeding. The nursing staff administers all medications and communicates with physicians on the resident's behalf. Our staff can provide tube feeding, diabetic care, and various IV treatments.
Short-Term Rehabilitation is available and includes post-acute care and rehabilitative care (physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy). Skilled care is often required in the event of a stroke, sustained fracture, or if there is a need for strength training following an acute illness. Our staff can provide tube feeding, diabetic care, wound care, and various IV treatments. When beds are available, Augsburg can also offer respite care which provides care when family members are unable to do so.
If you have experienced a recent hospital stay and you need extended professional care that is not available at home, you may be an excellent candidate for short-term rehabilitative care in the Health Center. Your recovery and return home is accelerated by professional staff available around the clock. While the length of stay varies, the time frame is usually determined by Medicare guidelines. Depending on your recovery, stays of up to 100 days are not uncommon, but they can be of shorter duration.
